Few things are more unnerving to a gardener than seeing a thin, long body suddenly slither beneath the soil beneath your feet on a sweltering day. As you pick rocks and weeds in your garden, the snake watches you. You will eventually stop going into your garden altogether if this happens often enough. Someone who delights in the fruits of their labor feels that their rewards have been abandoned. Trying to catch the snake might be a good idea.

Check to see what kind of snake it is before you attempt to catch it. Poisonous snakes usually require a special touch, if not a highly professional one. If the snake is not poisonous, then you can begin.

The first step is to re-enter your garden. If you want to catch the snake, you will need to go there. You can distract the snake with a long branch, yard stick, or fire poker. As long as the animal's head is in focus, your tool should be kept nearby. With the other hand, you will grab the snake's tail. Don't lift the snake off the ground. A snake you pick up by its tail should never be handled! Lift the snake's front end as quickly as possible with your stick. As a result, a hand should be holding the tail of the serpent, and the other hand should be holding the stick that holds the snake's head. With this positioning, you will be able to control the reptile's body without putting yourself at risk. Place the snake at a safe location for relocation. If there is no shelter nearby, you can put the animal in a pillowcase and transfer it by vehicle to a safe place. You should gently steer the snake's head toward where you want it to go. When the snake is in a pillow case, gently spill it out so that the body remains partially covered. Back away from the pillowcase and leave it on the ground. Your linen can be retrieved when the snake has left.

As an alternative, you could try to shoo the snake into a large garbage bag if the above method is too direct. Put the bin on the ground and guide the snake inside with a broom. Avoid hitting or pushing the snake in; you don't want to damage it. Because the bin sides are smooth, the snake can't climb out, so it can be relocated safely.

Use a shirt and a pillowcase to get rid of a snake inside your house. Your shirt or light blanket will be able to cover the snake, so fold it over and put it in the pillowcase. You can place the pillowcase in a garbage bin or large box so the snake may come out if desired. Over the container, place an airtight lid with holes. The snake is now ready to be transported.
